Incidences of Texas teachers accused of improper relationships with students continue to stream into the 2015-16 school year. An autumnal cluster full of allegations of sexual acts or “sexting,” sending explicit sexual text messages or images, with under-aged minors have been reported.

Waco police arrested Michael George Benns, 35, a former full-time paraprofessional teacher’s assistant at the Midway Independent School District (ISD) Alternative Education Center. Benns was charged Wednesday with having an improper relationship between an educator and student plus sexual assault of a female minor. In March, Benns was fired after the district learned of the February police investigation into his conduct. Waco Police Sergeant Patrick Swanton told the Waco Tribune that the alleged sexual encounter occurred in January between Benns and the victim, a girl under the age of 17, in a downtown parking lot. The victim’s mother reported the incident to police.

“As far as they know at this point, it was a single encounter not on school property,” Swanton said. A forensic interview performed at the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children proved instrumental to the case, said the sergeant. Benns remains in the McLennnan County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond since his arrest Nov. 4 arrest.

Midway ISD Superintendent George Kazanas emailed parents Wednesday afternoon about the situation. “Benns came with strong references from youth organizations in the community,” he wrote. However, he noted that Benns “came to us already with a prior connection to a young lady who now is no longer a student at Midway High School. Due to this prior connection, an inappropriate relationship occurred outside of school hours and off-campus. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement officials to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for our students.”

On Tuesday, in the Houston area, police arrested Deer Park ISD substitute teacher Blake Saucillo, charging him with allegedly sexting explicit images to a female high school sophomore. According to the Houston Chronicle, Deer Park police investigated a June 1 South Campus High School report of an inappropriate teacher-student relationship. Officers determined Saucillo sent explicit videos, photos, and text messages back and forth with a student over a period of several days, although there was no evidence that the sexual misconduct happened at the school. The  substitute made bail set at $30,000 following his arrest and was released for a Wednesday Harris County court appearance.

In late October, a similar case occurred in the Austin area. Eanes ISD officials notified Child Protective Services and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office of an investigation into a female high school math teacher for inappropriate communications with a male student over social media and texting. She taught at Westlake High School and the district said her background checks cleared when she was hired.

This week, just outside of San Antonio, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office charged Mark LeGault, 35, with an improper relationship between and educator and student. sheriff’s office spokesman James Keith said the Wagner High School band director accused of sexual misconduct was in a relationship with a 17-year-old female student since August but police did not disclose if the victim was one of his band students. Keith told KENS-5 the girl’s parents first contacted the sheriff’s office about the inappropriate relationship on Monday.

The sexual misconduct began after the teenaged girl broke up with her longtime boyfriend. She told deputies LeGault offered her comfort and said, “Let’s hang out. I can make things better for you.” The teen felt pressured to stay in the relationship with LeGault, telling police LeGault threatened to commit suicide.

The suspect had suicidal tendencies. Keith said LeGault showed up with bleeding arms for a meeting with district officials after being placed on administrative leave. First responders rushed LeGault to the hospital.

Since his Tuesday arrest, high school parent Quawanna Peoples told KENS-5 that she was relieved LeGault no longer taught at the school but she emphasized: “It’s shock and disappointment because we look at these educators to look after our children.”

The Texas Classroom Teachers Association (TCTA) reminds education professionals they are “perceived role models in the community” in their 2015-16 Survival Guide, defining improper sexual relationships for teachers and the criminal consequences of these actions. It lists what constitutes real and perceived solicitations of a romantic relationship, warning teachers to “take care to avoid situations in which professional boundaries become poorly defined.”

The 2014-15 school year marked the 7th consecutive year Texas teacher-student improper relationship cases increased, upping from 179 cases opened by the Texas Education Agency to 188.” Previously, expert Terry Abbott blamed the rise of sexual misconduct on social media and secret electronic messaging which he said “created an open gateway for inappropriate behavior,” including developing “improper relationships with students out of sight of parents and principals.” He underscored that the wave of educator sexual deviance in the classroom extends beyond Texas, calling it “epidemic” nationwide.

TEXAS COLLEGE SCAM
BY JANICE VANCLEAVE
TEA keeps dreaming up new ways to disrupt the focus of the core curriculum: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
TEA and the 20 Texas Education Service Centers have more than 80% of the Texas School Districts indoctrinated with the progressive common core education philosophy –AKA– Discovery Learning. This method of education puts the student in charge of his/her education. The teacher just present problems and the students on their own discover the necessary facts to solve the problem. Discovery learning  is successful with gifted and talented students, but only if they are self-disciplined and self-motivated.Thus, discovery learning is unsuccessful with the majority of students.
Discovery learning  is a method where students take charge of their education and teachers are only to be  “guides on the side.”
What is the point of requiring teachers to have college degrees if students are to take charge of their own education?
The discover learning method depends on students coming to school with a desire to learn and information that they can share with other students. The idea is that each student has something different to contribute, thus by brain storming students can solve problems themselves. I started my teaching career in 1966. Teachers were expected to be in control of their classes. Teachers were expected to be knowledgeable about the subjects they taught and they were to provide students with the basic facts necessary to solve problems. During my teaching career I taught many different sciences at different grade levels and in different school districts. I started out with one if not the best mentor ever, Ms. Marcille Hollingsworth, who wisely taught me that a teacher must have control of the class in order to present the concepts necessary for problem solving. That was 49 years ago and now veteran teachers like Ms. Hollingsworth are encouraged to leave the teaching profession. They are considered trouble makers because they do not agree with what is being called the “Twenty First Century Progressive Discovery Method” of teaching.
How is the 21st Century Progressive Discovery Method working out?
I recently volunteered to mentor a new 8th grade science teacher and help create a science lab room. To say that I was shocked at the behavior of the students doesn’t come close to describing my experiences. Teacher friends had told me that students were difficult and the new teaching philosophies made it next to impossible to maintain order in the classroom. You cannot come close to imagining how the progressive discovery method has destroyed the learning environment of our public schools.
Some of these 8th grade students must have their tests read to them. Yes, there are 8th grade students who cannot read well enough to read their tests and are in regular class rooms without any particular assistance. The idea is that by being in regular classes these non-readers will learn more than if in a small class with teachers trained to help them. It is really sad to see a student making every effort for other students not to know they cannot read. By working in groups non-readers have learned to copy the work of other students even though they cannot read and understand what they write. Some are behavior problems. Some misbehave instead of doing any work because they cannot read and their writing skills are so poor. They would rather be viewed as being disobedient instead of thought of as being dumb.
Mixing students of different abilities is called Inclusion and is hailed as a system to provide equal education to all students.
I do understand that parents want their children to have the best education. Parents of students who have learning disabilities have fought for the rights of their children. They won the right for their children to be in the same classes with children having no specific learning disability. Now, instead of their children being in small classes with several specially trained teachers to help overcome and/or learn in special ways, children with learning disabilities have less special assistance. All inclusive classrooms move at the same pace.  Administrators promote the idea that teachers are able to provide individual assistance to students who need extra assistance. Teachers are to prepare lessons for students with different abilities, thus gifted students and students with learning as well as emotional disabilities all receive lessons designed especially for them.

STOP!

First of all students are suppose to be taking charge of their own education–working in groups and sharing ideas with teachers not giving them facts—remember teachers are to be guides on the side. But with inclusion there are students who are not capable of taking charge of their education. The truth is that no student can do this in elementary and few in upper grades. When questions about students with learning disabilities, administrators “craw-fish” and put the responsibility of providing special lessons for these students.

Public education is a mess.

Some of the 8th graders I work with can read but have little comprehension. Most of the students have little self-discipline. None of the students have the skills to design a science investigation to discover the answer to a problem. This is because all of the students have very little science knowledge to draw on. They have been in charge of their own education for so many years that many have such a poor education they could not apply for the most basic jobs.
The teachers are also trained to use the Fundamental Five Steps of teaching taught by “Lead Your School.” This requires teachers to have students working in groups among other things, such as having the perform critical writing at the end of every class period. I read the book for this course and it gives no clue what is considered critical writing. Basically students are to summarize what they learned during the class period.
Students do not have textbooks that they bring to class. Instead, a worktext is issued and it remains in the classroom. The pages in this book are perforated so they easily tear out. These books were originally developed for common core standards. The publisher had a group of Texas educators to revise some of the sections so that these worktexts can be said to align with Texas standards called TEKS. These hodgepodge revised worktexts have students doing mindless busy work. A few students who are either self-disciplined enough to want to learn and/or have parents who encourage them to learn do the work and those in their group copy the answers.
In Waco ISD, students who want to learn are allowed to attend classes with other students of the same mind set. Waco ISD has a special school for these students. I’ve had the honor of being invited to work with these students. It was like stepping back a few years when teachers were in charge of their classes. Yes, traditional education, which has been described by our Texas Educational service systems as old fashion, not acceptable in our modern 21st century technology education systems. What a joke.
In classes where  teachers are not in charge, students often tend to be loud and not focused on the lesson. .Why are teachers being blamed for the failure of our education system when those at the state level force teachers to allow students to be in charge of their own education. The 8th graders that I work with would not have a clue how to behave in the event of a true emergency. During one of the labs, I tripped and fell on the floor hitting my head on the edge of a cabinet. There were students near me but none made an effort to help me. I was not badly injured and purposely remained on the floor as I screamed–
“I’ve fallen, will someone help me.”
The teacher in the adjoining room came in immediately, but most of the my students never acknowledged my cry for help because they were loudly talking to each other. I cannot control the behavior of these students. I ask the administration for help and was told to have a discipline plan–rules for students to follow and consequences. There are no consequences that these students fear.
Are is there? I recently observed something I’d never seen in the school before.
A substitute teacher who has never been indoctrinated with all the CSCOPE and Lead Your School nonsense monitored classes for one of the 8th grade teachers. For the first time I saw 8th grade students sitting quietly as they did their individual work. The substitute was busy assisting the teacher by grading papers. Had the teacher been there, he would have been reprimanded for sitting at his desk and grading papers.
It appears that only substitute teachers are allowed to have a quiet classroom. Only substitute teachers are not allowed to sit at their desks. Regular teachers must be walking around the room guiding and encouraging students who are working nosily in groups or making poster board projects etc…… Students are to appear to be enjoying the class. A quiet class with students doing individual work is only to be observed during the multitude of testings.
All the TEKS are to be taught before the STAAR tests in April
I am discovering that there is really not enough time to teach students the content of the TEKS before the assessments (STAAR/EOCs) are given.
Think about it:
Some days are cut short so that teachers can be trained to encourage students to go to college. This is called “No Excuses University.” Teachers are given a book to read so they can better encourage students to go to college. This book has nothing to do with the content that each teacher is hired to teach. I read the book—It would be good for teachers training to be teachers. Those in the professions should know everything in the book. But, since our 20 Education Service Centers are now training people to be teachers, principals, and even superintendents, maybe they do not know how to teach–or lead.
Think about this:
The 20 ESCs are forbidden to write and sell lessons to schools because of the faulty, antiAmerican, anti-Christian CESCOPE lessons. Yet, these same people who purposely created instruction materials that were never reviewed are in charge of training people to teach our children; training people to be principals and superintendents as well as training school board members. In other words, the 20 ESCs have more control over Texas Public Education than TEA, the Commissioner of Education, and all the legislative education committees.
Since many students cannot read well and have little comprehension of what they read, TEA has solution for these problems:
1. Make the TEKS and STAAR/EOC tests more rigorous.
2. Add more for teachers to present as they guide from the side.
Now teachers are to incorporate College and Career Readiness into their “lessons.”This is another education scam–meaning that more material can be sold to schools–more programs sold to schools for college and career readiness when time needs to be spent teaching students to read.

DUH! WILL SOMEONE IN AUSTIN LISTEN?

MANY OF OUR CHILDREN CANNOT READ AND WRITE. MAKING THE TESTS HARDER DOESN’T IMPROVE THEIR READING SKILLS.

Texas Teachers Cloned

cloning
Texas is Cloning Teachers
The Texas’ education system is made up of different groups that are supposed to work together. If they actually did work together, Texas would be providing the the best education in the world.

The Texas Education Service Centers are Cloning Teachers

Texas ESCs Are
Cloning Teachers

One reason the different parts of the Texas Education System do not work together is that the Commissioner of Education has allowed the different agencies to basically do their own thing.

1. The State Board of Education (SBOE) is in charge of the TEKs-state standards. There is no verification that these standards are correct. No verification that the groups writing the TEKS are qualified.
2. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is in charge of STAAR/EOC tests that are suppose to be aligned to the TEKS. TEA test writers make their own interpretation of the TEKS but do not share this with Texas educators. There is no verification that these TESTs are valid to assess students.
3. The ESCs –Education Service Centers have taken control of interpreting the TEKS and school superintendents are responsible for purchasing the ESCs TEKS interpretations. The Commissioner of Education, Michael Williams allows the 20 ESCs to govern themselves. Governor Perry chose the Railroad Commissioner, Michael Williams to be the Commissioner of Education.
The ESCs now train teachers with a minimum of five years of teaching experience to be Instruction Coaches. These Coaches are given authority to govern what teachers teach. These coaches mandate that the ESC interpretation of the TEKS, AKA Unpackaged TEKS, are used with fidelity. Meaning that not one word that is not in the TEKS may be included in lessons. These Instruction Coaches are part of the PLC program.
The diagram of people with no facial features is a good representation of the cloned teachers that the Texas Education Centers are now creating with their new PLC program.
The PLC program is not restricted to Texas. In fact it is more of a common core program that the ESCs are implementing.
Following is a teacher’s comment about working in a school with a PLC Instruction Coach.
AnonymousSeptember 28, 2014 at 2:29 PM

I transferred to a campus with the “PLC” mentality after eight reasonably successful years of teaching. I had been used to a system where we’d share ideas once a week, we’d be teaching the same SE, some of the materials we used were the same because they worked well for all of us. However, we were always free to review or extend as needed, and to use alternate texts if we felt they would work better with our particular students – as long as we were teaching the skill and could show results.

On this new campus, I was immediately thrown into a world in which I not only no longer had an opinion, but was essentially prohibited from adding any personal touches to the lessons that were given to us by the department heads under the guise of “collaboration”. It was same day, same story, same “foldable”, same power-point for everyone in the department – and none of it was near the standard of quality that I had previously implemented in my classroom. A lot of it was disjointed, or shallow, or only loosely connected to the SE… but saying as much made me a huge target.

On the first common assessment, I was “caught”, as my students scored significantly higher in some areas than my colleagues – and instead of being questioned about my methods in some positive way, I was reprimanded, because they knew I was tweaking what they had been giving me. The team leader began a vicious campaign against me, interrogating me during meetings, accusing me of doing a poor job, etc. – and the administrators were right with her. They began visiting my classroom several times a week, e-mailing me about the words or bits of assignments that didn’t seem to be consistent with my colleagues…

Additionally, we were required to use 4 out of 5 of our weekly planning periods (which are legally protected in my state from organized activities by the administration) to attend these “planning meetings” in which we were told what to do, how to do it, and interrogated as to whether we were in lock step.

To make a long story short, I lasted 3 months, began having panic attacks, and was reprimanded for it. This worsened the anxiety, and despite being under medical care, they panic attacks increased in frequency… The constant threat of visits, the interrogation, being told I was not doing well after years of being respected by former colleagues… it was all too much. I resigned for medical reasons, and I’m unsure if I’ll ever teach again.

Texas Education Service Centers (ESCs): Over Funded Education Agencies.

gestapo

By Janice VanCleave

txcscopereview.com

Millions of unregulated dollars pour into the coffers of the ESCs yearly. More unregulated money comes from the sell of instructional products to Texas schools. In fact, the ESCs  have an unfair market advantage over the sell of education instruction materials–isn’t this called a monopoly?

In January, 2013, Senator Patrick instructed the ESCs to void the User contract with Texas Teachers which forbid teachers to disclose the content of CSCOPE lessons used in classrooms. The ESCs didn’t want the incorrect, biased CSCOPE lessons viewed by parents.

Seems the ESC directors didn’t take Senator Patrick serious. On August 12, 2014 Jerry Maze described some of the newly implemented perks offered by the ESC. Maze is the Chair of the “Texas Curriculum Management Program Cooperative.”

Maze said,

“Teachers are no longer required to sign a user agreement. We trust teachers and want to make sure they are able to maximize the utility of the site.”

The ESCs are a bit slow in responding to Senator Patrick’s request. Or is it that the ESCs want the idea to be theirs instead of having to void the user agreement. Or maybe the ESCs just forgot like they have forgotten where the paper for millions of dollars of expenses are.

I am convinced that the ESCs are doing everything possible to rid Texas schools of veteran teachers. The ESCs want educators that are willing to  do what they are told and not care if students are being educated or not. The Texas Education Service Centers are now making money training  “PLC education coaches.” Pull away the smoke screen and you will find that these coaches are actually gestapo-like thought police, which stop teachers who have ideas other than what the coaches approve of.

The cartoon PLC coach in the diagram is sadly too close to the truth. Teachers are being halted from thinking outside the “box,” which is the approved scripted lesson plan. Any teacher not following the scripted lessons approved by the PLC coach is reported to  “Thought Control Head Quarters” as not being a team-player.

The PLC program adds a more gestapo-type atmosphere to the classroom. At this time, this is not so much for the students, but teachers are every vigilant in what they say or do for fear the “Thought Police” are listening.

What are the Thought Police listening for?

One teacher was caught selecting a student to answer a question. Sounds like what all teachers do. But the Thought Police Coaches mandate that teachers use some kind of system so that students are selected at random. A system such as pulling names out of a hat, but the teacher is not allowed to make the choice.

Another teacher was warned because he had gotten ahead of the cloned script. So, if your children complain about having to do things over and over it is because the teacher is not allowed to progress even if students understand the material.

The reason all  lessons must be the same is so that all students receive exactly the same information in the same way and on the same day.

The PLC “gestapo-coaches” closely monitors teachers so that teachers do not add any enrichment to their lessons.

Another thing the gestapo-coaches are looking for is  a teachers that provides facts to students. Students are to do activities in groups and discover the facts on their own. This is erroneously called discovery learning. This constructivist type of education has many flaws. One being that students do not always make the correct conclusions, thus discovery learning is a way that students “teach themselves” incorrect information.

Even so, Discovery Learning is touted as being the “Best Learning Practice” for students. When something that is obviously wrong is being promoted, one should ask–“Who is making money by promoting Discovery Learning?”

The PLC program is promoting the idea that there should be no outstanding teachers because this indicates that some students receive better instruction.  Any teacher caught enriching their lessons is reported to the administration as NOT BEING A TEAM PLAYER, which mean an uncooperative teacher.  Principals with uncooperative teachers are reported to the “Thought Police” at Thought Police Head Quarters somewhere.

The answer to an instant improvement in Texas education is to link the salaries of all school superintendents with the scores of students in their school district. Low scores–low superintendent salaries. They would be begging veteran teachers to return.

Who is Leading Your School?

by Janice VanCleave

www.txcscopereview.com

Texas is known for having Independent School Districts. Independent school district is an oxymoron. In the past the community was involved in the schools their children attended. Parents assisted when there were special programs.

As a science teacher, I often asked for parent volunteers if I was going to make a science field trip. In the late 70s, I taught science in Hudson ISD. A small school district near Lufkin, Texas. I was one of two science teachers and we decided to take students on a Saturday field trip to mine for minerals nearby. The school had a free bus but no bus driver. No problem, I took the necessary training and became a licensed school bus driver. So one Saturday we loaded up the bus with interested kids and parents and off we went. The materials we found displayed and discussed in our classes the following week. Not every class was studying rocks and minerals but kids who went on the field trip were allowed to share their experiences with students in their science class.  I don’t remember what we found but the kids considered them valuable.

One day a student brought a very large tarantula spider to class. He had purchased it at a pet store. This was a shy student and was not very popular. But the spider may have changed his life. To the amazement of everyone, including me, he put his hand in the cage and allowed the spider to climb up his arm around his neck and down his other arm. The girls squealed. The guys just stood back, but did not offer to let the spider get on them. The boy moved up in the social pecking order that day. The students learned a great deal about Tarantula’s and the administration was supportive. Could this happen today in Hudson ISD ? I doubt it.

The administrators of the majority of Texas Public schools are spending money on programs that have little to do with the basics–reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, teachers are subjected to different programs designed to fix all education problems; CSCOPE: provide a one-size-fits all program so that every student is equally educated; Lead Your School: The Fundamental 5 provides a formula for quality instruction in every classroom; Capture Kid’s Hearts, claim that if you have a kid’s heart you have the kid’s head.

Each of these programs cost a lot of money –hundreds of thousands and in some cases millions over a short time period. Classrooms are papered, not with educational posters but with posters from each of the different programs, such as what a student should say instead of, “I don’t know that.” If a student is not behaving, the teacher is suppose to ask, “What are you doing?” Student is to stop hitting another student in the head and say, “I am smashing this kid in the face with my fist.” To this the teacher says, “What should you be doing?” In response the student says.”Writing the formulas for chemical compounds.” And so forth——–This is how discipline is handled.

Why are superintendents and school board members using education funds to bring in private consultant groups to train their teachers? Lead Your School is the name of a consulting group that administrators are paying with title funds. As previously mentioned, Marlin ISD has paid over $150 thousand dollars to Lead Your School for professional development. This is interesting since this same school district still purchases the remnants of the CSCOPE managing System, which also has professional development. Both CSCOPE and Lead Your School have specific things that teachers MUST do each school day. In fact, monitors come into classrooms to make sure the teacher is following the regimented plans of CSCOPE as well as the Fundamental Five Formula from Lead Your School. These are two separate organizations with separate dictated programs for teachers to follow. What the public is not being told is that teachers are resigning from public schools–some find positions in private schools, some just get out. The administration in Marlin ISD was not upset when 3/4 of its staff resigned at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. Teachers who were not willing to be submissive to the program were not wanted. Actually, quality teachers are not wanted. Veteran teachers are especially vilified throughout the schools using CSCOPE and Lead Your School program.

I have pondered on why administrators are so blatantly misusing the education money they have been trusted with. Are they supporting each other? By this I mean that administrators are starting consulting groups which hire retiring  administrators.   “I’ll scratch your back if you will scratch mine.”

The CSCOPE Instruction Material that was purchased by about 80% of Texas Public schools had never been evaluated. The program had no documented results that it was effective, yet Texas school superintendents chose to not purchase text books and payed a subscription fee to the Texas Education Service Centers for CSCOPE materials instead. CSCOPE monitors were hired to make walkthroughs of classrooms to make sure teachers were following the CSCOPE schedule.

Now in addition to CSCOPE monitoring, administrators are paying the Lead Your School group–another group without any accountability–that charges a lot of money to train teachers to use five steps in designing their lessons every day. More monitoring–now the walkthroughs are called POWERWALKS– Teachers are to be on the CSCOPE schedule, have the TEKS for the day written on the board, have the Fundamental 5 objective written in a specific place on the board, etc………….. With the fundamental 5 formula teachers are also to be in the PowerZone. Any teacher caught standing in front of the class giving directions to the entire class would be written up. Any teacher caught sitting at his/her desk without students surrounding the desk would be written up. Teachers are to be roaming around the room, helping individual students who are in groups. There are actual pictures in a book showing where teachers should be when the observer makes his/her powerwalk through the classroom. Some observers bring cameras and take photos to document errors.

The material used by the Lead Your School group is a book written by Sean Cain and Mike Laird calledThe Fundamental Five: The Formula for Quality Instruction.  These authors present a formula containing  5 practices that must be used in every lesson every day. It is very possible that many superintendents and principals do not recognize these practices as something that any teacher worth his/her salt is already doing. This is because many superintendents and principals were coaches are athletic directors. In Cain’s book is  is a description of teachers sitting behind their desk sending emails or doing something that doesn’t include the students. The student assignment being to read the text book and answer the questions at the end of the chapter. This is the description given of teachers who are not properly supervised–who do not have powerwalkers checking to make sure they are following the five fundamental processes.

The Lead Your School Program as well as the CSCOPE Instructional Program promotes the ideas that:

  • teachers are lazy and slothful
  • teachers only do their job if they are constantly being monitored and evaluated
  • teachers don’t have the skills to provide quality instructions, thus they need CSCOPE scripted lessons as well as the fundamental 5 formula
  • no matter the success of a teacher, they must switch to the fundamental 5 formula process if they are to be rated as a good teacher

One would think the fundamental 5 formula would be some new revolution. The five steps are below. What is new is that school administrators are being allowed to force teachers to either shape up and follow the steps or ship out.

1. Frame the Lesson   –Write the objective of the lesson on the board.

2. Work in the Power Zone–Where teacher can be within the room—anywhere except in a position that denotes authority.

3. Students in Frequent, Small-Group, Purposeful Talk about the Learning— There is the assumption that students are well disciplined and spend each second of the class period absorbing and giving out information directly related to the objective of the day. That students can form groups and have meaningful exchange of information and then be alert and ready for the next drop of information that they are hungering to receive.

4. Recognize and Reinforce–In other words, sum up the lesson–teach and reteach. An exchange between the teacher and student or even better–a flip class would be that students provide a summary for the class.

5. Students are to Write Critically–Sum up the lesson. Students are to consolidate the information from group discussions and whatever the teacher presents and write up a summary in their own words.

Every teacher in every subject must use this same order to design lessons for every day. Powerwalkers will be around to determine if teachers are doing this. Powerwalkers have to be paid–thus more money spent on making sure that teachers follow the dictated program.

Another premise for the CSCOPE as well as Fundamental 5 formula is that students attend trade schools because they have not been trained by a quality teacher. All students have the ability to learn, it is the fault of teachers that they do not.  Lead Your School compares an average teacher with a good teacher. The good teacher uses the fundamental 5 formula consistently, with high-frequency and high-quality every day.

With instructional practices other than the fundamental 5 formula, students are forced to attend trade schools or community colleges or a state university. Following is an excerpt from The Fundamental Five by Cain.  Notice that anything less than going to an Ivy League school indicates an education by poor teachers, those not following the fundamental five formula. Also notice that the quality of a students education is decided by teachers and there no mention of student responsibility.

Is Sean Cain a graduate of an Ivy League School? While Cain considers those attending a trade school as being improperly educated, he will not be calling an Ivy League graduate when he needs a plumber.

The Sean Marcus Cain holding the Teaching Certification shown has a lot of managing certifications but his only teacher training is in generic special education. If this is the record for Sean Cain, the author of  The Fundamental Five, are we to assume that all of his special education students hold Ivy League degrees?

Sean Cain Certifications

I object to any program that degrades trade schools or community colleges.

I object to any program that is presented as being the only way a person can be a good teacher.

I object to administrators who purchase and subject their teachers to such programs. These administrators need to justify this expenditure. These administrators need to be accountable for the purchases they make. Is there a reason that school superintendents are moving from one school district to another? Are they purchases materials and moving on? If so, why?

It is time for communities to set up a few powerwalks through the offices of school superintendents and other school administrators offices. There is a new scam in education–technology supervisors. Who is the technology supervisor in your school district? What are their certifications? What is their job description?

We unfortunately live in a society today where a sense of decency often is  something that is not valued. What is even worse is that many of those individuals who devalue decency have the job of teaching and instilling unfavorable behavior traits in our children. Such is the case with one Texas Teacher.

This Texas Teacher has shared with her students through twitter that parents that teach that evolution is a “LIE” are hurting the nation and killing innovation”. George West ISD’s 7th grade math teacher Mrs. Pawelek has two twitter accounts. She has set up one for her students where she she post comments and photos of her students (has she informed the parents that she is taking photos of their children and posting them on the internet?) I found Ms. Pawelek’s Tweet below disturbing! The fact that she could be so bold and insensitive to students who believe in Intelligent Design, be they Christian, Jew or just Creationists of any stripe is concerning and offensive.

Mrs. Pawelek has also put herself in a position above her student’s parents in challenging their opinion when it disagrees with her own. How dare she spew her indoctrination and demonize the parents of the children in her classroom. I wonder how Mrs. Pawelek would respond if her own child was in my music or dance class or whatever and I had a twitter account for the class where I told my students that any parent who denied creationism must be pagan and is going to Hell. I am sure that she would remove her child from my class and give me a good cussing, which I would rightfully deserve. The sad difference is the fact that it is not nearly so easy to remove my child from her grasp and my tax dollars pay her salary either way.

As a side note, why is it that the progressive liberals can’t or won’t allow competing ideas on evolution, education, etc.? The evolution “science” takes more faith than it takes to believe in Creationism or Intelligent Design.

Brenda Pawelek has another twitter account where she exercises no restraint on her foul language. Do you find it funny that both of the posts by her below start out with the premise of Deity? “OMG” doesn’t the G stand for God? And how about “Holy S..t”, OK maybe that is a stretch, but the point is that while our teachers have a right to their first ammendment right as much as the next person, in my opinion they should always remember that our kids are looking. I don’t personally know Mrs. Pawelek but maybe since she believes we came to being via evolution over time which, when partnered with the concept of no God, leads to a life of no moral absolutes which frees oneself to act anyway they choose with no right or wrong behavior other than their own opinion.

Surely we can do better than this when choosing educators for our most precious resource, our children.

Glenn Beck on Cscope

1. Lindy McCulloch (ESC Cscope Director ESC Region VI) trying to intimidate me for speaking against Cscope at a Willis ISD Board Meeting.  (I am not a teacher but I am giving teachers a voice).

In an attempt to alert the community of Crowley Texas about Cscope I sent the following email to varies email address I could find, pastors, govt officials, school administration, etc..
WARNING TEXAS  Parents, Grandparents, Pastors and Community Leaders

If you would like to have a ProgressiveAnti ChristianPro Islamic education for your child, look no further than your Texas Public Schools, charters and some christian private schools. Thanks to Texas Educations Service Centers and their creation of Cscope Curriculum we are now looking at the dumbing down of the Texas Education System. Sadly as the ESC directors and their reps profit financially the ones that will suffer are our children.  Read more HERE;

The following is the response from Crowley ISD  Superintendent Dan Powell in my attempt to alert the community in Crowley, Texas about Cscope.  is what I emailed to school employees, teachers, community leaders and pastors.

This is absolute non-sense! You are either crazy or ridiculously mistaken. As a Christian and patriotic American, I am most offended by your lies!  Take me off your mailing list immediately, and find a shrink.  Dan Powell

What shocked me most about his response was his attempt to defend his faith and patriotism. Why?

SBOE Member THOMAS RATLIFF refers to those of concerned and

speaking out against the progressive indoctrination of our children

with Cscope as promoting a conspiracy theory and having part

amnesia. Here is his letter… CSCOPE, Thomas Ratliff
